Thank you
Making Thank you cards after coming home from the hospital for all those kind people who sent flowers and cards.
Very few people knew I was sick. It is hard to share that for which you have no answers.
I used rag paper (which displays a colors vibrancy so well) and these were the very first two cards I made.
Many many thank you’s were given to kind strangers especially.
The kindest stranger, a nurse singing “Baby Love” to me, as I was clinging to life.
A spotlight shining in my eyes.
She was my angel.
I gave her my baby Grogu when we left the nursing home where I had lived for 3 months. My future appeared so grim. I was so afraid to go home and once we got home, all I wanted to do was paint.
At the time of painting these, I could not hold a brush in the traditional way… and it would be almost 2 years of practice before that skill would return.
I still find it so challenging to type, so please pardon any typos along the way :)
I still drop a lot of things. My fine motor skills have not completely returned.
Rylan has been my greatest support system, and hears my famous “Uh’oh” being said from the other room quite often but I feel so much gratitude for where I am and for those who have supported me through this terribly challenging time… especially our parents.
My greatest physical therapist has been our dog Luna LoveBad, who demands we play fetch 24/7 and then we have Breya… who is an expert cuddler.
My life is so full. It has become so different and is not short of its challenges but I walk in gratitude and have a lot of hope for the future.
